I’m the God BLEEP BATMAN
Posted by themasonBatman numero 10 apparently has bad words in it. I haven’t read it, so I can’t really speak for the context of the words. I don’t really understand the big deal with naughty words. We’re all adults, ain’t we?
Robb apparently does NOT like naughty words in his Batman comics. Again, I think a lot of it has to do with context, but let’s also look at audience. The target audience for All-Star Batman and Robin is in their thirties. Not to say that this book won’t get into the hands of children because, let’s face it, the industry ain’t too good at preventing that from happening, but I am saying that this is not intended for Children at all.
Let’s also look at previous subject matter. This is the book where Batman and Black Canary got it on in the middle of the street. Granted, we didn’t see Batman given’ to Dinah from behind, but I’d say that was pretty explicit. This is, in my opinion, as bad, if not worse, than naughty words.
Now, why should the Bat-shit, crazy Frank Miller have to censor himself in a comic rated Teen (I think…) and intended for thirty year olds? There’s more disturbing Batman material out there, I guarantee you, so I basically don’t see the big deal here.
I think the problems started at editorial. They handled it poorly, but going further the problems continued with whomever blocked out the words. That’s a pretty amateur move. Then there’s the fact that no one noticed this problem before the books were shipped out.
DC gave Frank Miller the right to use naughty words and then to black them out. So why be mad at him? I mean, we can find better shit to call him out on than that, can’t we?
