Geekocracy likes old men… GRAN TORINO REVIEW!!!!!

Posted by themason

Rudy talked about old man Logan and I’m gonna talk about old man Eastwood.

I saw Gran Torino and enjoyed it a lot. But, I should mention, I fucking love Clint Eastwood, even though he’s now an old, wrinkly curmudgeon (which actually made this movie better).

The story is basically about a 70 year old Dirty Harry who has raised two sons who don’t understand him, has just lost his wife and lives in a neighborhood that has become over run with gangs. He’s a bad ass old dude who may or may not be racist (he sure sounds racist, but whether he is racist is up to debate, I’d go with he’s not racist) and hates just about everyone. He’s got guns too. And a dog. Who doesn’t love dogs? You know what, this is kind of like Marley and Me, except with an old dude instead of broken nose guy and Brad Pitt’s ex. And this movie’s more bad ass. Though, typical of me, I haven’t even seen Marley and me so I’m not really qualified to make that comment.

I think I got off task. But yeah, old dude gets close to his neighbors from another country, befriends pussy kid next door, turns him into a man, and starts to fight back against the gangs in his neighborhood. Now, old dude doesn’t discriminate, he’ll take on African American gangs, Hmong gangs and even Hispanic gangs.

That last paragraph was going nowhere, so screw that. Bottom line, the movie is both funny and tragic, sometimes at the same time. The scenes will switch so fast from being funny and tragic, you’ll feel awkward, but that won’t stop you from laughing or wanting to cry. If you don’t like Clint Eastwood as much as I do, you might get bored, but regardless, it’s a good movie.

There.
