The Finally Final Final Crisis

Posted by rudyhernandez

So the day is finally here. The day when Final Crisis #7 is and I get to finish off another Grant Morrison series and get to see if I understand everything that came before like I usually do with Grant Morrison stories. And after reading it, my first impression is, I need to re-read this entire series.

I still am not sure of how everything went together. It’s kinda like reading some of Grant’s non superhero work. I understood most of it, liked a lot of parts of it, and some of it went over my head. I really wish they could have given Grant more issues to work with, but then it never would have come out with the artist problems they’ve had through the entire series. This could easily have been a 10 issue story if not more. All in all I liked it, but I can’t say I loved it. But I will re-read it as a whole when I get the first opportunity and maybe things will be different. Read a couple extra thoughts below the picture that I didn’t include up here because they have some spoilers if you wish.

*some spoilers here, you’ve been warned*

I really enjoyed seeing more of Morrison’s Frankenstein. I just think he’s an awesome character as long as only Grant gets to use him. I thought the splash page with all of the Supermen from the multiverse was cool. Actually I think this page was cooler than the entire Countdown Arena series. And it looks like I may have been right when I’ve been telling people that Darkseid’s Omega Sanction didn’t kill Batman, but likely sent him in some form to another world/dimension.

* Spoilers over *
